Barry's Bootcamp Review

The ambiance: By no means is Barry’s Bootcamp going anywhere! The TriBeca location pops out on York Street, conveniently located near the Canal Street ACE. The morning classes were anything but groggy. For a Thursday morning, the class was quite full and rambunctious. There is a good mix of women and men that attend. Immediately, I noticed the amenities they had to offer: Oribe shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion, other toiletries, and free locker service (with roomy lockers!). The locker room is fitting for TriBeca, in that it has a modern, unfinished look. The workout room is darker with red lighting and the music is blaring with some techno Britney Spears. Can’t go wrong with Britney.
The workout: Barry’s workouts are known for their workouts fluctuating between the floor and the treadmill. This workout consisted of an interval speed drill on the treadmill for roughly 1.5 miles. Then we took it to the floor for some resistance band ab workouts. The workout is all about your effort. The trainer will give a suggested speed or weight, but it is ultimately up to you to push yourself to your limits (without flying off the treadmill, of course). The second half was back to the treadmill with speed mixed with incline. It was a pyramid workout. The incline was increased and then decreased in increments of 2, while the speed changed a bit. This is where you must really push. The last portion was abs again. This time, weights were used for that extra challenge. And of course, there was stretching at the end. The only real issue I had wasn’t with the workout, but with the trainer. He was nice and had a great personality, but he wasn’t personally motivating the class nor was he correcting improper form that I saw. But nevertheless, this “Abs” workout was appropriately intense. You just have to keep yourself motivated to not stop! Overall, I’d recommend this class to the intermediate or advance gym-goer. Again, it is up to you to determine the intensity of the workout. Everyone needs to add HIIT workouts to their regimen and this is a good way to switch it up.
If you really loved the class, they also sell Barry’s Bootcamp branded apparel and accessories. There is a “Refuel” station where you can purchase protein shakes and other snacks and already made mini meals. I had a chance to try Tyme Fast Food after this class! The packaging allowed it to be really portable and I can just throw it in my gym bag for after my workout. The menu is pretty global, as far as flavor goes. There’s Mediterranean,

Mexican, Thai, Middle Eastern, and Californian. The labeling will tell you what the jar you picked is good for and it breaks down how each ingredient benefits your body. And for all you macro-counters, right on top of the lid, there is a “gauge” with the protein, carbs, fiber, sugar, fat, and calorie amount.Welcome to your blog post.
